On Saturday evening, February 18, 2017 at the Columbia Metro Convention Center, the 2016 Regal Awards Gala celebrated its 28th year of recognizing and celebrating the Midland’s of South Carolina real estate's greatest achievers and leaders. Great Southern Homes had simply a spectacular night of taking home the awards and recognitions.

Plans range from 1,990 to 2,131 square feet depending on optional sun room additions. In terms of street appeal, the craftsman exterior combines a mix of colorful brick, stone and/or vinyl treatments, and a covered porch entranceway with attractive square porch columns. Once inside, buyers are struck by how big and open The McClean is. The front entry has a recessed, split stairwell so you’re not greeted by the staircase at the front door. The Magnolia is a single-story, four bedroom / three bath, two-car garage plan with lots of “WOW” factor that appeals to multiple fast-growing market segments. The Magnolia appeals to rising tide of Baby Boomers who are retiring/pre-retiring and ready to downsize. At under 2,500 square feet and with Great Southern Homes’ GreenSmart energy-efficient program, the plan just makes sense for Boomers to move to. There’s plenty of room to entertain and host the grandkids in this grand design. Move-up buyers enjoy the incredible openness of the plan and the many features of interior treatments, built-ins and granite countertops that Great Southern builds into it. The Magnolia offers a sitting porch on the front of the home and in most markets is offered with either brick, cementitious siding or higher-quality vinyl exteriors. A tour of the home reveals a formal foyer with hardwoods and elegant formal dining with optional coffered ceiling. The massive Great Room and Cook’s Kitchen connect the entire house together and lead to the large covered patio in the rear of the home. Research shows that when someone trusted says something positive or negative about a product or service to another person, the receiver of the message usually does what the influencer says to do. Testimonials, referrals, brand loyalty – all are part of this big intangible called “word of mouth.” You can’t buy positive testimonials. In business, you have to earn them!
Great Southern Homes wanted to start a new television advertising campaign that focused on testimonials of real buyers of their homes and ask them to give their honest feelings about why they bought their homes. We wanted the people to be real buyers not paid actors and the testimonials to be real and persuasive.
The process started with our creative team and identifying the steps necessary to complete the project. First was to identify the possible interview candidates. A long list was generated by asking for names of candidates from our sales, construction and closing teams. Next, we contacted candidates on the list to see if they would participate. We explained that we wanted them to attend a photoshoot and for them to honestly respond to some questions about their purchase of a Great Southern Home. Most declined because even though they enjoyed their home, they did not want to appear on TV, they were too busy or work or family interfered.
Three candidates were finally identified and we arranged to film them at either their home or at the nearest model home to their address. The three that agreed to participate were a single, professional woman, a husband and wife “move-up” pair, and military wife who relocated to the market with several kids and husband who was often deployed.
We set up, attached a mic, prepped the candidates and began the interview process which usually took an hour. The questions were very open-ended such as “tell us why you purchased your Great Southern Homes?” and “What do you like about your home?” to get them comfortable and talking. Magically, in all three cases, great, positive statements rolled out of candidates such as, “great home,” “would do it again”, “Iove my house”, “love my realtor”, “the process was great”, “I love that I can turn off the lights from my phone”, etc.
The value of the testimonial TV advertisement is that it puts a real face saying real, believable and positive statements about our homes to a wide audience. And you just can’t buy that!
