Great Southern Homes Makes Strides in Organizational Changes to Propel Growth

(IRMO, SC) – The nation’s housing market continues to grow, particularly in the Carolinas and Georgia and Great Southern Homes, the private, Irmo, SC–based homebuilder is well-positioned to capture a lion’s share of this expansion.  

For the past three years, Great Southern Homes has been building homes at the sizzling pace of an average 40% growth rate. During this period, the company expanded into most major markets in SC and Augusta, GA. This past year (2016), the company closed over 750 houses and was recognized as the 74th largest builder in the nation and the 6th fastest-growing private builder by Builder Magazine.   This coming year, Great Southern Homes will continue to expand with plans to open new markets offering “smart” and energy-efficient homes that adhere to the company’s mission to “Live Green. Live Smart.”

The company’s founder and owner, Michael Nieri attributes the company’s remarkable success to its core team of talented homebuilding professionals. “We have come out of the housing recession stronger, faster and smarter,” says Michael Nieri, founder and owner of Great Southern Homes.  “We’ve expanded from a little over a dozen employees to now over 80 employees.  With our growth, we’ve made some important organizational changes to streamline our operations and help our workforce be more nimble and more responsive to changes in the marketplace.”

The following are some of these key organizational changes to position Great Southern Homes for continued growth.

Within the company’s leadership, Mike Satterfield, EVP/CEO, has assumed the additional responsibilities managing operations in the SC Coastal and Upstate markets.  Shelton Twine, VP and BIC, has assumed the additional responsibilities of managing operations in the SC Midlands and Augusta, GA market.

Within construction management, Jeremy Pyle, Division Production Manager has been promoted to direct and supervise all construction within the Midlands of SC.  Brad Harper and Dan Estell oversee operations within the Upstate of SC which includes student housing projects in Clemson, SC, and residential housing, both attached and detached throughout the entire Upstate. Keith Harris, Division Manager – Coastal Markets, directs activities as it expands into the Coastal markets of SC including Myrtle Beach, the Grand Strand and the greater Charleston area.  

Within the marketing and sales team, Christina Scott, Sales Manager, leads sales activities in the markets of Aiken, Augusta, Florence, Sumter, and Camden areas.  Robert Penny, Sales Manager manages sales activities in the Upstate and the western portion of the Midlands, and David Zeagler, with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage leads sales activities in Columbia Northeast.  Bill Earle, Director of Strategic Markets and Tiffany Mitchell, Marketing Manager direct the company’s marketing activities including research, event marketing, promotions and advertising.
